This role will be responsible for financial accounting, financial reporting and ad-hoc projects for Group corporate functions and corporate financial entities.
This will include ownership of the Corporate segment balance sheet and cash flow, preparation of statutory accounts for the Plc and other corporate legal entities, liaison with external auditors and provision of financial and technical accounting support for all activities within the Corporate Head Office finance team. Key areas of the role will be to manage the financial accounting of all head office entities, including the review of relevant monthly reporting activities undertaken by the Group Finance Shared Service Centre, and to drive continuous improvement in the quality of statutory reporting and associated financial controls.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Responsible for reviewing corporate head office entity monthly financials, taking individual responsibility for ensuring that appropriate accounting treatment is applied and documented
Takes ownership for and reviews the month-end outputs produced by the Group Finance Shared Service Centre that are relevant to the corporate head office entities
Designs, reviews and signs off monthly balance sheet reconciliations and proofs of significant balances to ensure that proper control is maintained over corporate head office result and FX exposures.
Takes ownership for the Corporate segment monthly cash flow. This includes the preparation of cash flows for certain corporate entities, reviewing and explaining working capital movements and variances for the segment as a whole, ensuring that significant transactions are appropriately reflected in the cash flow, and providing input into the short term cash flow forecast
Takes ownership of statutory accounts for corporate head office entities including preparation of the accounts and seeing them through to completion including audit, filing with Companies House, individually dealing with accounting complexities and working closely with the Group Tax and Company Secretarial teams to ensure that all issues are resolved
Ensures that financial controls over corporate head office entities and statutory accounts are maintained and takes individual responsibility for completing the Risk and Controls Matrices
Supports and delivers on finance projects including IFRS9 implementation, intercompany loan rationalisation, company structure reorganisations and improvement of controls and processes within the Corporate Head Office Finance function
Skills, know-how and experience:
· Strong technical accounting knowledge
· Strong knowledge, and hands on experience of preparing statutory entity accounts
· Excellent communication skills
· Can do attitude, self-motivated, logical and structured way of working
· Highly numerate and detail orientated
Experience of Cognos Controller and/or TM1 and/or SAP
Experience of multi-currency consolidations
