Amazon Web Services Specialist - Hatfield - Up to £60,000

My client is building a new IT infrastructure service capability at their head office in Hatfield. The Infrastructure Services Specialist will provide support for virtualized and physical server, storage and network environments at both their current colocation centre and future AWS platform. As a specialist, we expect you to have an understanding of the technology, security awareness, overall systems and solutions integration.

Key Responsibilities

*Participate and contribute to service and operational improvement programs.
*Keep your knowledge up to date in a fast moving and evolving cloud computing solutions to benefit from AWS products and services.
*Ensure the infrastructure is secure; manage data and system availability, access control and service continuity to agreed standards that stand up to audit scrutiny.
*Produce various reports specifically in the areas of AWS security, resource utilisation and costing.
*Develop scripts and code within the sphere of AWS for Windows and Linux to automate laborious tasks and solve challenging problems.
*Provide advice and guidance on the correct use of AWS services. Cost, resilience and future support should always be considerations you take into account when implementing new solutions.
*Remediate AWS environments and processes to ensure best practice is adhered to, develop and improve current eco-system.
*Develop Cloud Formation templates to produce repeatable build outs of services and systems.
*Zero touch Windows & Linux server builds. Including scripts and imaging.
*Produce native scripts using PowerShell, Visual Studio, Bash, VBScript & Batch scripting as appropriate for the target OS.
*Encourage and promote the reuse and sharing of existing AWS resources.
*Creation and support of AWS Elastic Beanstalks
*Creation and support of ActiveMQ & Elastic Search clusters, including within the AWS infrastructure.
*Creation and support of AWS Direct Connect & VPN connections.
*Develop initiatives to drive down costs.
*Work productively with Project management and the IT Architecture team to ensure successful delivery of projects.

Key Skills and Qualifications

*Deep understanding of AWS, storage, servers, virtualisation, networks, security, end user computing back end infrastructure (Microsoft).
*Certified in one of the AWS Associate programs - Architect, Developer or Administrator
*Excellent problem solving and analytical skills - you thrive when presented with a technical challenge
*A good understanding of software development and scripting technologies. Any coding experience is a plus.
*PowerShell, Bash, VBScript, Perl, Python, YAML, Batch etc.
*Experience of working within the infrastructure area of IT.
*A good understanding of Networking, TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, routing, firewalls etc.
*AWS Security groups, IAM policies, Network ACLs.
*A detailed working knowledge of various AWS services including, but not limited to EC2, EBS, RDS, S3, Glacier, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, Cloud formation, Config, SES, SNS, SQS, IAM, VPC, Directory Service.
