Job Description

 
A well established, financial services organisation is looking for an experienced SQL and Oracle DBA to join their team. The firm prides itself on its values of empathy, honesty, excellence and social responsibility and they are looking for someone who shares these values combined with a positive and collaborative attitude and a degree of pragmatism.

Currently undergoing a cloud migration the successful applicant will be actively involved in driving the move and looking to improve delivery whilst providing hands on leadership to a small team of DBAs.

REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications required:

Must have a minimum of 5 GCSE's grade A-C or equivalent qualification
2 A' Levels grade A-D or equivalent qualification
University Degree or equivalent, professional qualification(s)

Background and experience necessary:
An experienced hands on senior technical team leader, with excellent technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Demonstrable experience of production and development Database Administration and Support for MS SQL 2008/12/14/16
Experience of Oracle 10g/11/12 and Oracle Streams would be an advantage.

Principal duties

Technology

Management of the MS SQL and ORACLE Database Platforms to ensure the day to day operational meets business needs are met.
Management of the Database Administration Team, including regular 1-2-1 reviews, team meetings and appraisals.
Day to day management of the environment, including proactive monitoring of the environment's performance and capacity, to strive to operate the environment with appropriate best practice at all times
Ensuring all day to day scheduled tasks are undertaken and BAU activity, system incidents and changes are managed and controlled in line with departmental processes.
Ensuring that the DB platforms remains secure and correctly licensed and any risks are identified and escalated where necessary.

People

Provide management, leadership, coaching and mentoring to develop talent and build a high performing team.
Manage project and other work, making allowance for operational and support requirements, so that required timescales are met.
