IT Infrastructure Services Specialist - UNIX, Storage and Backup Subject Matter Expert

Our client, a leading energy provider are searching for a storage and Infrastructure Specialist to manage the migration of a variety of services to AWS cloud platform. The idea candidate will be skilled in HPUX, Linux, ESX, 3PAR, Oracle and AWS.

As part of the IT Infrastructure Support team you will work closely with the 1st, 2nd & 3rd line teams to resolve service incidents and manage service provisioning. You will work closely with the vendor support teams to escalate issues and manage the end-to-end service.
As the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Unix, storage and backup ecosystem, you will be responsible all aspects including design, architecture, availability, reliability, performance, monitoring and security of AW's primary Linux, storage (3par and VMware Tintri) and backup systems (HP Data Protector)

This position will be filled by someone with a deep technical understanding of Linux, AWS, storage and backup environment. Many of our services will be moved to an AWS Infrastructure platform, so skills managing in this area is a must. Primary focus of this role is to oversee the transition of our infrastructure estate HP UX to AWS Linux based servers.

Key Responsibilities
To keep the production Unix, Storage and Backup systems in a stable, secure and highly available state.
The current Unix based applications reside on a HPUX platform and are being migrated to Linux at AWS platform. The successful applicant will be supporting on both HPUX and Linux architecture at present also driving the process of migration.
You will support project activities related to Unix, Storage and Backups. You will work closely with the Technical Architects in designing solutions within your expertise.
Ensure successful operation of storage systems and backup infrastructure (both on inhouse and at AWS) whilst ensuring SLAs are met following Industry standard best practices.
Working with the stakeholders to continuously improve the Unix, storage and backup infrastructure.
Help plan/document and implement technical changes relating to Unix, storage and backup infrastructure in addition to implementing patching and security policies
Perform monitoring against Unix, storage and backup infrastructure
Ensure the infrastructure is secure; manage data and systems availability, access control and service continuity to agreed standards that stand up to audit scrutiny.

Key skills and qualifications (in order of importance)
Linux system admin experience in an AWS production environment.
Good exposure to ESX VMWare and management of large ESX estate consist of Windows and Linux servers.
Good exposure to HP Storage (3PAR and Brocade) and Backup(Data Protector) technologies.
Understanding of cloud based storage and backup solutions, mainly in AWS.

Shortlisting Criteria (Must Have)
SME level experience in HP UX (On prem) and Linux in an AWS environment
SME level experience on managing ESX Infrastructure.
SME level experience in 3Par storage systems and SAN fabric
Good exposure in HP Data Protector
ITIL certified
Proven experience in capacity planning for both storage and backup
Shortlisting Criteria (Desirable)
Oracle databases administration
